What You’ll Need:
Water
Experiment Steps:
1. Use the provided PVC gloves and paint your volcano with the included painting tools.
2. Add a spoon of baking soda and a spoon of citric acid into the measuring cup. Mix well and pour the mixture into the volcano crater.
3. Add 3 drops of food coloring and 50 ml of water into the other measuring cup. Stir well with the rod.
4. Pour the colored water into the crater and watch your volcano overflow with lava!
Scientific Explanation:
A chemical reaction between citric acid and baking soda produces a gas called carbon dioxide. The gas-filled liquid expands, fills the volcano crater, and then overflows like a volcanic eruption.
